cents as it reported flat fourth quarter earnings of 13 cents per
share. Revenues in the quarter rose 6.5% to $2.32 billion, and same
store sales increased 1.6%.
AVID TECHNOLOGY (AVID, 21.81)- The
maker of digital media editing products beat estimates by six cents as it
reported fourth quarter earnings of 18 cents per share, compared to last
year's loss of $4.42. Revenues in the quarter increased 13% to $126
million. The shares rose 0.69 in after hours trading on the news.
CHEMFIRST INC (CEM, 22.75)- The
specialty chemicals maker beat estimates by a penny as its fourth quarter
earnings rose 8.6% to 38 cents per share. Revenues in the quarter
increased 7.8% to $91.2 million.
COLUMBIA SPORTSWEAR (COLM, 60.19)-
The maker of outdoor apparel beat estimates by nine cents as its fourth
quarter earnings rose 45.7% to 51 cents per share. Revenues in the
quarter increased 32.4% to $161.9 million. The shares fell 1.94 in
after hours trading on the news.
DANKA BUSINESS SYSTEMS (DANKY, 0.78)-
The provider of photocopier and office imaging products reported a third
quarter loss of 58 cents per ADR, compared to last year's profit of 16
cents. Revenues in the quarter slumped 18.9% to $498.1 million, and
margins fell to 31.4% from last year's 35.4%.
GENERAL BINDING CORP (GBND, 8.88)-
The maker of document finishing and paper shredder products said its
fourth quarter earnings rose to 13 cents per share from last year's four
cents. Revenues in the quarter fell 8% to $218 million.
IMAGEX.COM INC (IMGX, 3.75)- The
provider of web-enabled printing services beat estimates by eight cents as
its fourth quarter loss narrowed to 35 cents per share from last year's
loss of 39 cents. Revenues in the quarter rose 301% to $19.5
million. The company's cash position fell to $40.4 million from
$51.1 million at the end of the third quarter. The shares jumped 33%
in after hours trading to 5.
IVEX PACKAGING (IXX, 10.58)- The
maker of specialty packaging products beat estimates by two cents as its
fourth quarter earnings rose to 28 cents per share from last year's 24
cents, excluding charges. Revenues in the quarter dipped 7.7% to
$168.2 million.
METHODE ELECTRONICS (METHA, 21.88)-
The contract electronics manufacturer warned that third quarter earnings
will fall short of expectations. The company now sees earnings near
19 cents per share. Analysts were looking for the company to earn 27
cents.
RSA SECURITY INC (RSAS, 61.75)-
The maker of Internet security products announced a 3 for 2 stock
split. Separately, the company said it has agreed to acquire
Internet security products maker Xcert International for $67.5 million in
cash. The shares rose 2.68 in after hours trading on the news.
SILICON STORAGE TECHNOLOGY (SSTI,
14.56)- The maker of flash memory products missed estimates by four
cents as its fourth quarter earnings jumped 500%, and 13.5% sequentially,
to 42 cents per share. Revenues in the quarter increased 233%, but
fell 1.7% sequentially, to $161 million. The company warned that it
sees first quarter revenues falling 0%-10% sequentially, and expects gross
margins to decline to 45% from 50%. First quarter earnings are
expected to be $0.25-$0.29, compared to analysts' estimates of 51
cents. The company sees full year earnings of $1.50-$1.75, compared
to analysts' expectations of $2.51. The shares fell 1.62 in after
hours trading on the news.

ADOBE SYSTEMS (ADBE,
52.75)- The graphics software maker warned that U.S. sales have been
softer than expected due to slowing economic conditions. The shares
fell 8 in after hours trading on the news.
AMAZON.COM INC (AMZN, 18.94)- The
online retailer beat estimates by a penny as its fourth quarter loss
narrowed to 25 cents per share from last year's loss of 55 cents. Revenues in
the quarter rose 44% to $972 million. The company also said it will
eliminate 15% of its workforce, or 1300 jobs, with the bulk of the cuts
coming at a Seattle customer service center where workers had been
attempting to unionize. The company warned that it sees first
quarter revenues of $650-$700, compared to analysts' estimates of $800
million. The shares lost 0.96 in after hours trading on the news.
CLOROX CO (CLX, 33.15)- The
household products maker beat reduced estimates by a penny as its second
quarter earnings slipped two cents to 31 cents per share. Revenues
in the quarter fell 6% to $899 million.
COMDISCO INC (CDO, 15.06)- The
provider of IT services beat estimates by six cents as its first quarter
earnings jumped 115% to 56 cents per share. Revenues in the quarter
rose 3.7% to $909 million.
NETMANAGE INC (NETM, 2)- The
maker of e-business software reported a fourth quarter profit of two
cents, compared to last year's loss of 41 cents. Revenues in the
quarter inched up 1.9% to $26.3 million.
PEOPLESOFT INC (PSFT, 48.94)- The
enterprise software maker beat estimates by four cents as fourth quarter
earnings jumped to 13 cents per share from last year's four cents.
Revenues in the quarter increased 34% to $498 million. The shares
rose 1.25 in after hours trading on the news.
TERAYON COMMUNICATIONS (TERN, 7.38)-
The maker of broadband access products missed estimates by 37 cents as it
reported a fourth quarter loss of 77 cents per share, compared to last
year's profit of two cents. Revenues in the quarter rose 63% to
$62.9 million, but fell short of expectations. The company warned
that it sees a wider than expected first quarter loss of ($0.45)-($0.50)
per share. Analysts were looking for a first quarter loss of 33

earnings will fall short of expectations due to continued slower consumer

GUEST SUPPLY INC (GSY, 25)- The
provider of housekeeping supplies to the hotel industry said its fiscal
first quarter earnings rose 57.7% to 41 cents per share. Revenues in
the quarter increased 13% to $90.31 million, and gross margins rose to
21.8% from last year's 21.5%.
INSURANCE AUTO AUCTIONS (IAAI, 10.81)- The
provider of auto salvage services warned that its fourth quarter earnings
will fall short of expectations. The company now sees earnings of
$0.14-$0.16 per share, compared to analysts' expectations of $0.25-$0.27.
SWIFT TRANSPORTATION CO (SWFT, 19.63)-
The trucking company missed estimates by five cents as its fourth quarter
earnings slid 42.9% to 16 cents per share. Revenues in the quarter
rose 16.1% to $330 million. The company attributed the shortfall to
higher fuel costs and slower holiday sales by retailers.
