HANCOCK FINANCIAL (JHF, 35.08)- The financial services company beat
estimates by two cents as fourth quarter earnings rose 24.1% to 58 cents
per share.
JUPITER MEDIA METRIX (JMXI, 6.43)- The
provider of Internet market research services missed estimates by a penny
as its fourth quarter loss narrowed to 23 cents per share from last year's
loss of 31 cents. Revenues in the quarter rose 107% to $38.5
million. Accounts receivable rose to $35 million from $28.2 million
on September 30th.
LESCO INC (LSCO, 14.00)- The
maker of lawn care products said its fourth quarter loss widened to 66
cents per share from last year's loss of 16 cents. Revenues in the
quarter rose 7.5% to $102.8 million. The company attributed the
wider loss to the effects of slowing economic conditions.
MOHAWK INDUSTRIES (MHK, 30.75)-
The carpet maker beat estimates by four cents as its fourth quarter
earnings rose 6% to 74 cents per share. Revenues in the quarter
increased 3% to $799 million. The company warned that first quarter
earnings will be $0.49-$0.52 per share, compared to analysts' estimates of
61 cents.
RAZORFISH INC (RAZF, 1.88)- The
provider of Internet consulting services met expectations as it reported a
fourth quarter loss of 20 cents per share, compared to last year's profit
of six cents. Revenues in the quarter slumped 5% to $50.1 million.
The company's year end cash position tumbled to $51 million from $84
million on September 30th. The shares fell 0.35 in after hours
trading on the news.
REGISTER.COM INC (RCOM, 6.81)-
The provider of Internet domain name registration services beat estimates
by six cents as it reported fourth quarter earnings of six cents per
share, compared to last year's loss of five cents. Revenues in the
quarter jumped 456% to $28.9 million. The shares jumped 2.13 in
after hours trading on the news.
RUSS BERRIE & CO (RUS, 23.50)-
The maker of seasonal gift products said its fourth quarter earnings rose
16.3% to 50 cents per share. Revenues in the quarter inched up 1.3%
to $67.7 million.
VIASAT INC (VSAT, 17.81)- The
maker of satellite and wireless products beat estimates by a penny as its
third quarter earnings rose 33% to 16 cents per share. Revenues in
the quarter jumped 139.4% to $43.1 million. The shares rose 0.94 in
after hours trading on the news.

AMERICAN EAGLE
OUTFITTERS (AEOS, 58.25)- The apparel retailer said fourth quarter
sales rose 48.6% to $424.2 million, and same store sales increased
11.3%. January total sales jumped 73.1% to $72.3 million, and same
store sales increased 5.9%.
ASK JEEVES INC (ASKJ, 2.75)- The
provider of Internet search solutions missed lowered estimates by a penny
as its fourth quarter loss narrowed to 53 cents per share from last year's
55 cents. Revenues in the quarter jumped 111% to $23 million, but
the company warned that its full year 2001 revenue growth rate will slow
to 15%-30%. The company now sees first quarter revenues of $20
million, compared to analysts' expectations of $26.5-$27 million.
The company attributed the lowered revenue forecasts to "the economic
realities of the changed market environment". The company now
sees a first quarter loss of 53 cents per share, compared to analysts'
expectations of 32 cents.
FREEMARKETS INC (FMKT, 20)- The
provider of B2B marketplace services has agreed to acquire B2B software
maker Adexa Inc for 17.25 million shares in an all-stock deal valued at
$340 million.
GENERAL SEMICONDUCTOR (SEM, 9.65)-
The maker of power management products met expectations as its fourth
quarter earnings rose 14% to 26 cents per share. Revenue in the
quarter increased 6.3%, but fell 8.1% sequentially, to $119.9 million.
MANDALAY RESORT GROUP (MBG, 21.90)-
The casino and resort operator warned that fourth quarter earnings will
fall short of expectations due to bad weather and higher interest
expenses. The company now sees first quarter earnings of one
cent. Analysts were looking for the company to earn 14 cents.
POLO RALPH LAUREN (RL, 25.24)-
The apparel maker beat estimates by two cents as its third quarter
earnings jumped 58% to 52 cents per share. Revenues in the quarter
rose 20% to $613.7 million, and gross margins improved to 48.5% from last
year's 46.9%.
SUNGLASS HUT INTERNATIONAL (RAYS, 8)-
The sun glasses retailer said January same store sales rose 9.2%.
January total sales increased 39.2% to $44.3 million.

CISCO
SYSTEMS INC (CSCO, 35.75)- The networking company missed estimates by
a penny as its second quarter earnings jumped 50% to 18 cents per
share. Revenues in the quarter increased 55% to $6.75 billion, but
missed estimates of $7.0-$7.2 billion. The company warned that third
quarter revenues could fall up to 5% sequentially, and said it expects
gross margins to fall to 60% from the second quarter's 61.8%. The slowdown
is expected to continue into the fourth quarter. The shares fell 2.35 in
after hours trading on the news.
CNET INC (CNET, 15.88)- The
operator of technology content web sites met estimates as its fourth
quarter earnings rose to nine cents per share from last year's loss of 21
cents. Revenues in the quarter increased 30% to $120 million.
The company warned that it sees full year 2001 revenues of $450-$480
million, compared to analysts' expectations of $550 million. The
company also said it will reduce its workforce by 10%.
COASTCAST CORP (PAR, 12.78)- The
maker of golf clubheads said its fourth quarter earnings slumped to a
penny per share from last year's 29 cents. Revenues in the quarter
slumped 10.3% to $24.9 million. The company attributed the revenue
decline to lower sales of steel golf clubheads.
FLOWARE WIRELESS SYSTEMS (FLRE, 9.13)-
The maker of broadband products beat estimates by three cents as its
fourth quarter loss narrowed to six cents per share from last year's loss
of 11 cents. The company said its fourth quarter earnings rose 50%
sequentially to $17.56 million.
JACADA LTD (JCDA, 5.50)- The
maker of Internet infrastructure software beat estimates by a penny as it
reported flat fourth quarter earnings of two cents per share.
Revenues in the quarter jumped 77% to $7.8 million.
LAMAR ADVERTISING (LAMR, 47.56)-
The provider of outdoor advertising services missed estimates by two cents
as its fourth quarter loss narrowed to 27 cents per share from last year's
loss of 29 cents. Revenues in the quarter rose 19% to $178.3
million, and same market revenues increased 9.5%.
REHABCARE GROUP (RHB, 36.96)- The
provider of healthcare staffing services beat estimates by a penny as its
fourth quarter earnings jumped 31% to 38 cents per share. Revenues
in the quarter increased 41.4% to $122.9 million.
RYDER SYSTEM (R, 19.25)- The
provider of truck leasing and logistics services met expectations as its
fourth quarter earnings fell to 51 cents per share, excluding charges,
from last year's 59 cents. Revenues in the quarter rose 2.7% to
$1.357 billion.
THOMAS NELSON INC (TNM, 6.99)-
The publisher of inspirational books said its fourth quarter earnings slid
to three cents per share from last year's 19 cents. Revenues in the
quarter increased 17.8% to $72.7 million.
TRIGON HEALTHCARE (TGH, 62.90)-
The provider of managed health care services beat estimates by a penny as
its fourth quarter earnings rose 39% to 86 cents per share. Net
revenues from fees and premiums in the quarter increased 14% to $654.9
million.

COVENTRY HEALTH CARE (CVTY,
20)- The provider of managed health care services beat estimates by a
penny as its fourth quarter earnings jumped 32% to 24 cents per
share. Revenues in the quarter rose 30% to $705.15 million.
Enrolled membership rose 10% sequentially to 1.7 million members.
ETOYS INC (ETYS, 0.28)- The
beleaguered e-toy retailer announced "additional cost reduction
efforts" which include the elimination of all 293 of its
remaining employees. The company said it still expects its current
cash position to fund operations to March 31st, and said it continues to
work with one-time booster of the stock Goldman Sachs to find strategic
alternatives (to enhance shareholder creditor value.)
MBIA INC (MBI, 73.38)- The
provider of financial services beat estimates by a penny as its fourth
quarter operating earnings rose 13% to $1.32 per share.
PACCAR INC (PCAR, 52)- The truck
maker missed estimates by eight cents as its fourth quarter earnings slid
to 82 cents per share from last year's $2.28. Revenues in the
quarter slumped 28% to $1.7 billion. The company said its U.S. first
quarter production could fall 20% sequentially from the fourth quarter's
levels.
UNIVISION COMMUNICATIONS (UVN, 40)- The
Spanish language broadcaster will join the S&P 500 Index on an as yet
undetermined date.

BEL FUSE INC (BELFA,
38)- The maker of electronics components said its fourth quarter
earnings rose 79% to 98 cents per share. Revenues in the quarter
increased 47% to $43.8 million.
CONTINENTAL AIRLINES (CAL, 54.00)- The
airline is reportedly in preliminary talks to acquire Delta Air Lines (DAL,
47.39) according to the Washington Post.

PATTERSON ENERGY (PTEN, 36)- The
provider of oil drilling services has agreed to merge with driller UTI
Energy Corp (UTI, 33.10) in a stock deal valued at $1.5 billion.
Under the terms of the deal, UTI shareholders will receive 1 PTEN share
fro each share held. The merged company will be renamed Patterson-UTI
Energy Inc.

PHILLIPS PETROLEUM (P, 58.13)- The
oil company has agreed to acquire refiner Tosco Corp (TOS, 34.61)
for $7 billion in stock and debt. Under the terms of the deal, TOS
shareholders will receive 0.8 shares of P (approximately $46.25) for each
share held. Phillips expects the deal to be accretive to
earnings. The company also announced a $1 billion share buyback.

SAVVIS COMMUNICATIONS (SVVS, 1.63)- Bridge
Information Systems which owns 46% of SVVS will file for Chapter 11
bankruptcy protection on Monday and is reportedly considering the selling
a part of its stake in Savvis.
