COMPANY (BBA, 1.88)- The home furnishings retailer said December same
store sales rose 8%. December total sales increased 9% to $82.3
million.
CHARMING SHOPPES (CHRS, 7)- The
womens' apparel retailer warned that fourth quarter earnings will fall
short of expectations due to below forecast holiday sales. The
company now sees earnings of $0.07-$0.09 per share, compared to analysts'
expectations of 11 cents.
DOLLAR GENERAL CORP (DG, 19)- The
retailer said December same store sales fell 1.3%. December total
sales rose 11.7% to $644.4 million.
INKTOMI CORP (INKT, 18.50)- The
maker of Internet infrastructure software warned that its fiscal first
quarter earnings will fall short of expectations. The company now
sees revenues of $80-$81 million and earnings of $0.00-$0.01 per
share. Analysts were looking for the company to earn three
cents. The shares fell 4.25 in after hours trading on the news.
MARINE DRILLING CO (MRL, 24.81)- The
provider of offshore drilling services will join the S&P MidCap 400
Index after next Monday's close.
MUSICMAKER.COM (HITS, 2.88)- The
Internet music download web site said it will "liquidate and dissolve
the Company" due to an inability to obtain adequate additional
financing. The shares rose 1 in after hours trading on the news.
PAYLESS SHOESOURCE (PSS, 71)- The
discount shoe retailer said December same store sales rose 3.2%.
December total revenues increased 7.5% to $292.4 million.
RESONATE INC (RSNT, 11.25)- The
Internet software maker warned that fourth quarter revenues will fall
short of expectations due to a slowdown in IT spending. The company
now sees revenues of $5.1-$5.4 million and expects to post a loss of
($0.25)-($0.28) per share. Analysts were looking for a loss of 26
cents. The shares fell 2.25 to 9 in after hours trading on the news.
ROSS STORES INC (ROST, 18)- The
off-price apparel retailer said December same store sales were flat, but
December total sales rose 8% to $351 million. The company warned
that it sees first quarter earnings of $0.44-$0.47 per share, compared to
analysts' expectations of 50 cents.
S&K FAMOUS BRANDS (SKFB, 7)-
The mens' apparel retailer said December same store sales fell 1%.
December total sales inched up 0.8% to $24.8 million.
VITRIA TECHNOLOGY (VITR, 8)- The
provider of ebusiness software warned that fourth quarter earnings will
fall short of expectations due to a slowdown in the telecom
industry. The company now sees revenues of $39-$41 million and
expects to report a loss of ($0.01)-($0.03) per share. Analysts were
looking for a profit of one cent in the quarter. The shares tumbled
37.5% in after hours trading to 5.
