BARR LABORATORIES
(BRL, 30.06)- The drug maker received a favorable
mention in this week's Business Week. A money manager sees the shares hitting 50-60
within a year. The shares will get a boost from the news.
CONTINENTAL AIRLINES (CAI.B, 44.38)- The airline beat first quarter expectations by 10 cents a share, earning
$1.03 in the quarter. Revenues rose 10.9% in the quarter. The shares will
likely be strong in today's trading.
EXCITE INC (XCIT, 146.94)- The Internet portal missed analysts' first quarter earnings by 1 cent,
earning 4 cents a share in the quarter as revenues jumped 123%.
INKTOMI CORP (INKT, 119.19)- The internet software company reported a narrower than expected loss of 9
cents a share in its second quarter as revenues rose 323%. The stock will likely
rise in today's trading.
PMC SIERRA (PMCS, 74.25)- The chip maker announced a 2 for 1 stock split after the close.
RADISYS CORP (RSYS, 25.43)- The company expects first quarter earnings to be 2 to 3 cents above
current expectations. The company attributed the bettr than expected showing to a
recent acquisition.
SEROLOGICALS (SERO, 10.06)- The company said that lower than expected shipments of its products will
cause it to miss full year earnings estimates by 15 cents a share. The news will put
pressure on the shares in today's trading.
STAR TEK (SRT, 11.38)- A money manager told Business Week that the shares are undervalued and
could double within a year. The shares should get a strong boost from the news in
today's trading.
SUN MICROSYSTEMS (SUNW, 60.44)- The computer company beat third quarter earnings expectations by 1 cent
a share, but fell 3 points in after hours trading after the company hinted of an industry
wide slowdown in coming quartes.

DEVICES (AMD, 14.75)- The chip maker posted a
narrower than expected loss of $0.81 a share in its first quarter and expects conditions
to impove during the second quarter.
AMERITRADE
(AMTD, 148)- The Internet broker rose in after hours
trading after its second quarter earnings beat estimates by 100%. The company
earned 14 cents a share, compared to estimates of 7 cents a share.
APPLE COMPUTER (AAPL, 35.53)- The maker of the brightly colored IMAC earned 60 ccents in its first
quarter, beating estimates by 3 cents a share. The shares slipped in after hours
trading after the company said third quarter revenues will increase, but margins will be
flat to down.
ELECTRONICS FOR IMAGING (EFII, 41.13)- The company's first quarter earnings beat expectations by 6 cents a
share.
NEWPORT NEWS SHIPBUILDING (NNS, 27.75)- General Dynamics has withdrawn its offer for the company after the
Department of Defense voiced its opposition to the deal.
RECOVERY ENGINEERING (REIN, 10.88)- Shares of the water treatment company will be boosted by its latest
earnings report. The company beat analysts' estimates, earning 8 cents a share
compared to expectations of a 5 cent loss. The company expects full year earnings to
be 67% above current forecasts.
TEXAS UTILITIES (TXU, 38)- The utility's shares will be under pressure after the company warned
that it expects its first quarter earnings to miss expectations by 35 cents a share.

E TEK DYNAMICS
(ETEK, 43.5)- The company's third quarter earnings
beat estimates by 3 cents a share as revenues rose 108%. Look for the shares to rise
in today's session.
INFOSEEK (SEEK,
79.5)- The Internet portal reported a second quarter
loss of 39 cents a share, beating estimates of a 41 cent loss. The stock rose 3/4 of
a point in after hours trading, but it should be noted that the company's revenues fell 2%
in the quarter and the loss widened from the prior year's 6 cents a share loss.
INTEL (INTC, 60.5)- The chip maker reported first quarter earnings of 57 cents a share,
beating estimates by 2 cents. Revenues came in below expectations of $7.4 at $7.1 billion.
The company also warned that second quarter revenue would be flat to down compared to the
first quarter. The shares fell 3 points on Instinet and will likely drag the tech
sector down in today's trading.
LADD FURNITURE (LADF, 19.25)- The company reported first quarter profits of $0.45, 25% above analysts'
expectations.
MOTOROLA (MOT, 82.94)- The company beat first quarter estimates by 4 cents a share, and said it
expects second quarter earnings and revenues to be above current expectations. The
shares rose 1 in after hours trading.
O'SULLIVAN INDUSTRIES (OSU, 15.68)- The furniture maker reported third quarter profits of $0.47 a share,
beating estimates by 7 cents a share. Look for the shares to get a boost from the
news.
PRICELINE.COM (PCLN, 81.5)- The Internet company announced a marketing deal with First USA that
could add up to $200 million in revenues over a 5 year span. The shares will rise on
the news.
SEAGATE TECHNOLOGY (SEG, 26.63)- The disk drive maker beat analysts' third quarter estimates by 3 cents a
share, eporting a profit of 49 cents a share. The company reported strong sales of
its new products, and the shares will likely get a boost on the news.

BROADCAST.COM
(BCST, 147.75)- The shares will rally this morning
after the company reported a doubling of revenues and a lower than expected loss.
The news will give another boost to the Internet stocks in today's trading.
DIALOGIC (DLGC, 34.88)- The
company warned that it will earn $0.29-$0.30 in its first quarter, compared to analyst
estimates of 37 cents a share. The company blamed a deferral of revenue into the second
quarter for the shortfall. The shares will be hit in today's trading.
ENRON OIL AND GAS (EOG, 16.94)- The oil company posted a wider than expected loss of 9 cents a share
(excluding one time gains of $0.12) in its first quarter.
GENERAL MOTORS (GM, 88.13)- The company will spin off its remaining 80% ownership of Delphi
Automotive to shareholders on May 28th.
INTEVAC (IVAC, 5.88)- The disk drive component maker warned that continued weak industry
conditions will cause it to post losses in its second and third quarters. The company also
reported a first quarter loss of 25 cents a share and said revenues plummetted 66% in the
quarter to $11.8 million. The shares are already 50% below their 52 week high and
will be pushed down further by the news.
RARE HOSPITALITY (RARE, 13.75)- The company said it will report a larger than expected first quarter
profit of $0.33-$0.34 a share. The company attributed the better than expected
showing to strong growth at its Long Horn Steakhouse division.
RENT A CENTER (RCII, 25.19)- The company expects to beat current estimates by 20% during its first
quarter, and by 10% for the fiscal year.
VOCAL TEC COMMUNICATIONS (VOCLF, 13.63)- The company warned that its first quarter loss will be double current
expectations due to disappointing sales. Look for the software maker's shares to
come under heavy pressure today.

COMPAQ COMPUTER
(CPQ, 30.94)- The PC maker, citing sluggish demand
and pricing pressures, warned after the close on Friday that first quarter profits would
be 15 cents a share, compared to analyst estimates of 31 cents. Compaq expects
revenue to total $9.4 billion in the quarter, compared to estimates of $9.98 billion. The
shares tumbled 4 1/2 points in after hours trading.
- The PC maker, citing sluggish demand
and pricing pressures, warned after the close on Friday that first quarter profits would
be 15 cents a share, compared to analyst estimates of 31 cents. Compaq expects

shares tumbled 4 1/2 points in after hours trading. Shares of Dell,
Gateway, and Intel all fell in sympathy after hours. The
news led to a selloff in Hong Kong and Japan overnight, and is currently putting downward
pressure on the S&P and NASDAQ Futures which are down 18.30 and 45 respectively.
GOLDEN STATE BANCORP (GSB, 24.25)- The company's Glendale Federal Bank subsidiary was awarded $909 million
in damages in a lawsuit it brought against the U.S. government. The amount awarded
was at the low end of the company's expectations, but is still a positive for the shares
in today's trading.
MIPS TECHNOLOGIES (MIPS, 57.5)- The chip maker earned 27 cents a share in its third quarter, beating
analysts' estimates by 4 cents. Revenues jumped 46% in the quarter, with strong
growth in contract and royalty revenues. The shares will get a boost from the news
in today's trading.
SAKS (SKS, 25.56)- A story in this week's Barron's called the shares undervalued and set a
price target of $40 plus for the shares.
