Frequently Asked Questions
|
|
|
|
How
long is Mastering The Trade? |
|
The course
interface consists of over 135 information screens, 500 illustrations, 2 hours of Real
Audio and 60 interactive Chartlab exercises. We suspect users will spend at least 12-14
hours studying the material. Overall, the course interface will be comfortable for
self-paced study. |
|
How
long can I access the course? |
|
Upon receipt of
payment, students receive an activated password that allows them unrestricted access to
the protected course area for 30 days. This should be ample time to explore all modules in
a comfortable fashion and conduct whatever additional research the student wishes to
undertake. The access period is non-renewable except for payment of a new tuition fee. |
|
How
is the course set up? |
|
Mastering The
Trade uses a system of overlapping frames to allow presentation of the largest
illustrations possible on the average browser. The 4 lesson sections each consist of 5
sub-modules containing a primary theme and 5 illustrated sub-themes. After students
proceed logically through each of that section's sub-modules, they arrive at the Hard
Right Edge Lecture Hall. Here they access 3 related Real Audio presentations. Each lecture
is accompanied by a student-directed slide show interface. Following the lectures,
students then reach the Chartlab module where they interact with 15 exercises that support
the current lessons. Chartlab utilizes image maps and javascript. Student browsers must
support these functions to use Chartlab. Sections 2, 3 and 4 repeat the same work flow
with new logical topics. Section 5 accesses a 30 question final examination, consisting of
multiple-choice, fill in the blank and essay questions. |
|
What
are the system requirements? |
|
Traders Workshop
courses require Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher OR Netscape Navigator 4.0 or higher with
javascript and frames both enabled. The browsers must also access Real Audio or Real
Player plug-ins. This plug-in can be obtained for free at: http://www.real.com
. Mastering The Trade has been optimized for 17-inch monitors at 1024x768 resolution. It
can be accessed comfortably down to a 14-inch monitor with standard SVGA resolution of
800x600. This course is NOT recommended for laptops under 14-inch or VGA only monitors. |
|
Are
there any printed materials? |
|
Mastering The
Trade provides no printed materials apart from the on-line course itself. Students are
permitted to print any course pages for personal use only. |
|
Who
is the lecturer? |
|
All course
lectures feature Alan Farley, editor/publisher of The Hard Right Edge and a private,
full-time trader and author residing in Denver, CO. His most recent longer publications
include Momentum: Riding The Tiger, an in-depth analysis of how to profit
from momentum and Time of Day, an hour-by-hour study of intra-day trend and
reversal. In addition to writing, Alan is also a featured speaker on short term trading
strategies and former staff member of CompuServe's Investor's Forum. He has been featured
in Barrons, Smart Money magazine, Tech Week and TheStreet.com. |
|
Are
the lectures available on tape? |
|
Students can
purchase a high quality tape version of the lecture material when they register for the
course or any time afterwards for $19.95, shipped by 2-day air. This service is provided
for those who wish to have that material after their course period expires and for those
who are unable to access a satisfactory Real Audio signal. The Hard Right Edge assumes no
responsibility for the reliability of the Real Audio server or Net connections in general.
