DITECH COMMUNICATIONS CORP (DITC, 33.38)- The maker of echo cancellation products used in telecom equipment beat estimates by a penny as its second quarter earnings rose 50% to 45 cents per share.  Revenues in the quarter increased 73% to $45.1 million.  The shares fell 5.38 in after hours trading on the news. 

ELECTRONICS BOUTIQUE (ELBO, 17)- The video games retailer missed estimates by a penny as its third quarter earnings slumped to six cents per share from last year's 19 cents.  Revenues in the quarter fell 10.5% to $158.6 million, and same store sales tumbled 16.8%.

POSSIS MEDICAL INC (POSS, 6.09)- The maker of cardiovascular devices missed estimates by a penny as its fiscal first quarter loss narrowed to 14 cents per share from last year's loss of 17 cents.  Revenues in the quarter rose 46% to $6.55 million.

STARBUCKS (SBUX, 46.25)- The coffee retailer met expectations as its fourth quarter earnings rose 29.4% to 22 cents per share.  Revenues in the quarter increased 22.5% to $582 million, and same store sales rose 10%.  The shares fell 2 in after hours trading on the news.

VA LINUX SYSTEMS INC (LNUX, 12)- The provider of Linux-based  products met reduced expectations as its fiscal first quarter loss narrowed to 15 cents per share from last year's loss of 27 cents.  Revenues in the quarter rose 278%, and 11% sequentially, to $56.1 million.  The shares rose 1.43 in after hours trading on the news.

CAMPBELL SOUP (CPB, 29.81)- The soup maker beat estimates by two cents as its fiscal first quarter earnings fell 13% to 47 cents per share.  Revenues in the quarter inched up 1% to $1.8 billion.

INFORMATICA CORP (INFA, 104.63)- The maker of e-business analytical software announced a 2 for 1 stock split.

PETSMART INC (PETM, 4)- The pet store operator warned that third quarter earnings will fall short of expectations.  The company now sees revenues of $540 million and earnings of $0.02-$0.03 per share.  Analysts were looking for the company to earn seven cents.  The company attributed the short fall to high shrinkage levels, lower same store sales growth, and lower margins.  The company also announced plans to up its ownership interest in its PetSmart.com unit to 81%.

TD WATERHOUSE GROUP (TWE, 16.75)- The discount broker beat estimates by four cents as its fourth quarter earnings jumped 75% to 14 cents per share.  Revenues in the quarter rose 42%, and 4% sequentially, to $359 million.

ZOLL MEDICAL CORP (ZOLL, 52.50)- The maker of cardiac devices beat estimates by two cents as its fourth quarter earnings increased 13.3% to 34 cents per share.  Revenues in the quarter rose 21% to $28.81 million.

ECHOSTAR COMMUNICATIONS (DISH, 40.19)- The provider of direct broadcast satellite TV services beat estimates by six cents as it reported flat earnings of a loss of 28 cents per share.  Revenues in the quarter rose 39.7% to $698 million.  The company said its cash flow rose to 55 cents per share from last year's 34 cents.

GLOBAL CROSSING LTD (GX, 17.63)- The telecom beat estimates by eight cents as it reported a third quarter loss of 65 cents per share, compared to the second quarter's loss of 61 cents.  Revenues in the quarter rose 46%, and 4% sequentially, to $1.316 billion.

HOT TOPIC INC (HOTT, 35.88)- The music related apparel retailer beat estimates by six cents as its third quarter earnings jumped 54.6% to 68 cents per share.  Revenues in the quarter increased 51% to $72.2 million, and same store sales rose 15.3%.  The company said it expects to meet analysts' fourth quarter estimates.

JB OXFORD HOLDINGS (JBOH, 3.13)- The Internet based stock broker reported breakeven third quarter earnings, compared to last year's profit of 12 cents.  Revenues in the quarter slipped to $21.14 million from last year's $22.91 million.

WEBMD CORP (HLTH, 10.13)- The Internet based provider of services to the healthcare industry missed estimates by five cents as its third quarter loss, excluding charges, widened to 27 cents per share from last year's loss of 14 cents.  Revenues in the quarter jumped 427%, and 50% sequentially, to $151.2 million.

BATTLE MOUNTAIN GOLD CO (BMG, 1.31)- The gold miner said its third quarter loss narrowed to seven cents per share from last year's loss of nine cents.  Revenues in the quarter increased 5.1% to $57.4 million.

INTERSPEED INC (ISPD, 1.25)- The maker of DSL routers missed estimates by 35 cents as its fourth quarter loss widened to 77 cents per share from last year's loss of 40 cents.  Revenues in the quarter rose 52% to $0.968 million.  The company also restated its results for the first three quarters of its fiscal year, with reported revenues revised to $5.45 million from the previously reported $14.16 million. The company's cash position   fell to $612,000.

LOWES COMPANIES (LOW, 39.94)- The building materials retailer met expectations as its third quarter earnings increased 20.5% to 53 cents per share.  Revenues in the quarter rose 15% to $4.5 billion, but same store sales were flat.  The company said it expects the weakness in same store sales growth to continue into the fourth quarter.

NETNATION COMMUNICATIONS (NNCI, 2.85)- The web hosting company said its third quarter loss widened to seven cents per share from last year's loss of five cents.  Revenues in the quarter jumped 129%, but fell 2.2% sequentially, to $1.39 million.

ORTHALLIANCE INC (ORAL, 4)- The provider of practice management services to orthodontists met expectations as its third quarter earnings rose 16% to 22 cents per share.  Revenues in the quarter increased 53% to $37 million.

PRIMA ENERGY CORP (PENG, 47)- The oil and gas explorer announced a 3 for 2 stock split.

XOMA LTD (XOMA, 14)- The biotech missed estimates by a penny as its third quarter loss narrowed to 11 cents per share from last year's loss of 21 cents.
